Marilyn Pederson (MeMe) and Janet Griggs are co-owners of Edible Art, Inc. Edible Art is a multi-functional food service company specializing in off-premises catering and restaurant management. Their main division, Taste Catering and Event Planning, has been providing a tradition of excellence for over 20 years by serving the highest level of gourmet cuisine for private, corporate, and social functions. Their clientele includes such well noted names as the financial sector’s JP Morgan, Citicorp, and Chase Manhattan; the technology firm’s Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, and Cisco Systems; the prominent retailer’s Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Gucci; and the entertainment industry’s Disney, Sony, and KQED. Some of their noteworthy events have been the United Nations 50th Anniversary, San Francisco Opera’s 75th Anniversary Gala, and several events honoring Presidents of the United States during the last three administrations.

I had the chance to see and "Taste" the work of this extraordinary catering company for a posh wedding at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Club. The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour featuring six different passed hors d’œuvres. One of the favorites was the pepper crusted ahi tuna served on flat bread with a jalapeno-cilantro relish that gave an innovative twist to this petite and sophisticated starter. The party then moved on to a dinner buffet featuring lamb chops roasted in fresh rosemary and served with a Zinfandel demi-glace; Porcini crusted sea bass garnished with basil-infused oil; wild mushroom ravioli; garlic roasted baby finn potatoes; a colorful antipasto display with a variety of roasted and grilled vegetables; and baby spinach and arugula salad with red wine poached pears, gorgonzola, and toasted pecans, tossed in a citrus vinaigrette.

The company is known for its exquisite innovation in both food and presentation. Colors, textures, and shapes are combined to delight the eye. The chef will often work to create a dish to coordinate with the theme of an event. Dedicated, attentive staff and elegant equipment are also part of their service. It’s no wonder that Taste is there when famous visitors are in town.
